One of the worst and best parts of playing online multi-player games such as Elder Scrolls Online is having to grind away at levels. It especially frustrating when the first few levels seem to go so quickly and then making it to each subsequent level feels like it takes an excruciating eternity. There is always that one guy who has his stuff together and just goes around killing things like a boss, while a group of grinding noobs tries desperately not to die with killing their quest monster for XP. So how do you level up faster? Well it still requires work, but that’s half of the fun. No grind no gain. So here are some gathered tips to level faster.
Technically you can pick whatever race you want, but if you want to level faster and be the very best then you need to pick the right people and tools for the job in the very beginning. Each race starts with perks and passive skills that aid in gaining experience or have an edge in an area of expertise. If you want to be the most awesome wizard its best to choose a race that gives bonuses to Magicka and mana points or that reduces the amount of Magicka spent on spells. If you want to face beat everything you come in contact with, well, you need a race that gives bonuses to health, stamina, and melee attacks. As stated before, choose whatever race you want but consider the perks of each race and think about the type of character you want. Advancing quickly sometimes means having the right technique along with the right vehicle for the job.
Teamwork makes the dream work and if your dream is to be the best, you might want to look into joining up with a party or guild. Sometimes people are shy, scared or just plain lone wolfs. Yes, Elder scrolls online can be played alone. It just means that it takes much, much longer to level up and the grind is real. So painfully real. So find friends and be friendly, it pays to work in teams. You can finish killing and questing a lot faster in a team meaning you can do more, meaning you get more experience and save a lot of time. You can even take on bigger enemies by working in a team. Fighting an enemy alone means that you have to be close in level or even a higher level to kill it without dying continuously. In a group the overall level of the team will sky rocket allowing the defeat of a bigger enemy. If you want to be a solo bad ass, make sure to leave that for the end of your adventure and don't start out that way. Odds are, you’ll end up helping new players when you achieve a higher level any way.
Obviously accomplishing game quests will give you experience points. They often have great story lines and interactive NPCs, making the grinding of quests go a lot faster and more entertaining than just killing things over and over and over again. If you attain gear boosts; like the ring of Mara, which gives you a ten percent boost on experience after you get married in the game. Other gear boosts include full sets collected through map exploration, which can give boosts to many things not just experience.
Yes, grinding sucks, but it is a tried and true way of leveling. Exploration leads to new enemies, quest and rewards. It is an age old way to complete the map and level and shouldn’t be avoided just because it is so hated. Remember, When in doubt, grind it out. The game itself tries to limit your grinding on creatures that will no longer maximize the time you invest. If you can't gain any more XP from the same mobs, make sure to move to a different area so you can get the most out of your grinding.
Books and scrolls are also very useful, especially in The Elder SCROLLS online. Reading books can lead to surprise boosts to skills. Skills aid in experience gain and leveling up. Scrolls like experience scrolls boost the percentage of experience gained for a temporary amount of time and are useful if you can get them. If you get your hands on one, wait until you get to a mob or boss and make sure you get a few hits in on the creatures you’re hunting, let them die and capitalize on your momentary experience boost.
